We left Oregon on Halloween two years in a row to escape the wet cold winter.

The first time, in 2017, we pulled our 25 foot Cougar travel trailer behind our Toyota Tundra down to the desert of Arizona. That’s for another post.

The second time, Halloween of 2018, we headed south again. Our first stop was a month in the Arizona desert waiting for some C60 for our old dog.

This time we decided to travel light. We sold our travel trailer in preparation for our long trip, destination Mexico, and bought a tent.

The back seats in the Wrangler Unlimited fold down completely flat. We’re able to put a memory foam mattress back there and sleep very securely and comfortably.

We needed a tent for our gear and a screened in area to hang out safe from bugs.

We decided on this Core 9 man tent. It has large screen windows almost like a screen room in the front half, and with the rain fly off, the top is completely screen.

The extra shade cloth was a lifesaver in the tropical sun. We were very happy we brought it, even though it took up a lot of space.

The coolest feature of this tent, and the reason we chose this one, is that it’s a pop-up tent.

If you’ve never had one, let me tell you they’re awesome!

You take it out of its bag, fold it out, and extend the 6 legs which are already connected to the tent. It really only takes about two minutes. It comes down and folds up just as quickly.

This Core 9 man tent has high quality zippers with rain guards. A lot of thought has went into making this tent a dry place for you and your gear.

In Celestino Gazca, on the Sinaloa Coast we camped for two weeks at our first tropical surf destination in Mexico. At this location we had a bit of a tropical storm and got a chance to see how the tent did at staying dry inside.

It did very well in windy, heavy rain conditions, only getting a little wet when we came in and out of the door.

We stayed in all day playing backgammon and smoking on the great BC buds our Canadian neighbor gave us.

We used this tent for a month camping in Lake Havasu/Parker Arizona in November before heading on south into Mexico.

We camped on the Sea of Cortez in Rocky Point our first night in Mexico. We pulled in to the campground in the late afternoon and were grateful for this easy, quick tent. We just stayed for one night then packed everything back on the Jeep. We were again really happy with the tent we chose. When you’re putting in long days driving, you don’t want camp to take long to set up or break down.

I love this tent and would highly recommend it. Below is my Amazon link to the tent. We bought it from Amazon a year ago for around $200 US.

It looks like you guys have the road life dialed in. I really like how you take the time to share why toy like a product that you find of good value. In look forward to reading more of your ventures.

Peace.

Thank you, this really has been a great tent. We researched a lot of tents, both cheaper, and much more expensive. I thought it was a great value for a tent with so much “technology/science” put into the design.
