Spielplatz in Hertfordshire village looks like a small quiet village, but there was something very different about life here. At first glance, this desolate little village looks like any other place in the middle of the London commuter belt. But grass and shrubs neatly hides many things. Hertfordshire village is home to the oldest colony of the nude in the UK.

You do not have to be naked to stay here - but they probably will not sell the house if you are not so.

Starting off in the pool, lawn mowing activity, even enjoying a beer at a local bar, its people have always done barefoot. ,

But after 85 years of secretly enforce a code to not dress, Spielplatz secret village - the name means play - ready to show their bare to the world for the first time. Next month the residents there to open the door for the first time for a TV documentary for More.

The nudists will expose to the world what their neighbors, postmen and delivery drivers supermarket seen every day of the week.

But the veteran residents Iseult Richardson, 82, who lived in the village most of his life, did not see anything special about the exposure.

"There is no difference between naturists and the people who live on the streets," she insisted. "We all live normally but just lucky enough to stay at this incredible place. It's such a small country.

"We have all sorts of delivery. Milkman came and drove, and we had a newsboy although that has now stopped.

"The postman and trader knows us, and brought us once they found us. They never seem bothered.

"Sometimes they have to walk all the way up to the middle of our territory, if they are carrying something heavy like a stove."

It was founded by Charles Macaskie Iseult's father, who bought the 12-acre area for £ 500 in 1929.

This region is in Bricket Wood, a few miles outside St Albans, and a permanent residence for about 34 owners of small bungalows. There is another 24 houses are available for rent for the summer visitors.

The center of this village is the club house where the residents gather for disco, karaoke sessions, quiz nights and pool tournaments, naked of course.

A few hundred meters away, motorists who do not know completely passed on the busy M1 motorway.

But as TV viewers will see, there is trouble in paradise nudist, when the property developer houses in the village considers this village is a perfect place for the development of multi-million pound housing.

Spielplatz is currently run as a club and anyone who wants to buy one of the bungalows - the average cost, at £ 85,000 - to be examined by the board.

Typically, they will be part-time members for at least one year, according to Iseult.

He said: "This place can be bought and sold just like anywhere else. People sometimes move on when they retire and go somewhere sunnier.

"Recently, one was bought by a couple who did not like it, so they got planning permission to restore and build new ones. It's almost finished and they will move into their new home in a few months. "

As citizens Tina Yates, 64, said: "This is just a small community where everyone knows everyone else."

But like other people, nudists there has its advantages. Property ownership away from the bone of contention.

Residents struggled to agree on how to deal with family members who like to stop, but she would not take off their clothes. Some residents were loud in there said it was a case where, they do not have to be naked or stopping altogether.

But the moderate board members want to admit people who wear clothes for a particular session.

Financial director Vic Lightfoot, 68, father of three children from two marriages, originally from High Wycombe, has had difficulty persuading his girlfriend Maggie Fitzgerald and her daughter, Joanne, to enter into the spirit Spielplatz.

Joanne was even asked to leave the village because it failed to open the clothes in the open.

Vic admits: "You can not have anyone there who did not naturist - it will be turned into housing for visitors."

"It was embarrassing for the people who told me about the objection. This may sound strange, naked people who are not comfortable with people with clothes.

"Since then we have had discussions and I have come up with some suggestions. Maybe if we had a glove for rent ... "

His girlfriend Maggie, 66, thinks he should be allowed there, because he can not expose her body in the sun for health reasons.

"Nobody ever said you have to see Maggie undress. I have helped to prepare food, to be one of the crowd.

"When you swim, you are not allowed to wear clothes and I had to swim. I have no problem with it. People go there to escape from the real world. And undressing is a major breakout.

"I must remind Vic when he was in my place in order to put on his pants. To be fair, she continued to wear her panties when she sat on a plastic chair.

"There are some things where you do not want to be stuck on a plastic chair."
