List B - not only great actors, you can like.

in #lifestyle5 years ago (edited)

We know that we all have our favorite actors. Those for whom we will go to another country to watch the rebroadcast of the show, those we want to meet personally, or those we follow in social media. You can add to this the actors to whom it is not difficult to declare admiration - to say that you like Cate Blanchett is so natural like breathing, the Australian actress is valued not only fashionable but also easily - especially that she plays fantastic. It is also not surprising to have some favorite actors that almost nobody has heard of, or who are only popular in their country. I’m the perfect example of a person who has such favorite actors - mainly from British cinema - which of course, the general public will not say anything. But there is also a third type of actors. It's those who we know that they do not play very well, or that their films are not always good, or do not raise in us such an amazing fan energy. We just like them - the name in the cast makes us go to the movie. At the same time, it's not about the biggest and best actors, but in those cases where we're not always keen to flaunt our sympathy. Such like our list B. Not the best, not the most beloved but for some reason liked.

Jason Statham - apparently everyone must have their favorite actor of action movie. Janson Statham is my favorite actor of the action movie. His acting skills are limited. But at least he chooses the role well, with a British accent and is probably one example of an actor who in his films undresses more often than the actresses accompany him. Although he was wonderful in “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, I saw him for the first time in “The Transporter” - you must know that I have a weakness for films about cars and this is a perfect movie about it. In addition, Statham knows perfectly well what he can play and what he can not do, and he does not make any trips in the direction of films in which he would have to play a lot more. I do not quite know why the actor arouses my sympathy - perhaps because the films he chooses are so tragically wonderfully stupid (like “Crank” which unfortunately I love) but as he said - he never wanted to get an Oscar and that the entertainment films have to be shot too, do it as best as you can. So, Statham is in the movie, I will definitely watch it (among other things, I'm so happy about the next episode of “Fast and the Furious”).

Robert Pattinson - I know that a lot of people have decided to dislike Pattinson because of his performance in “Twilight”. I like Pattinson for a few reasons:

  • His awareness that in “Twilight” he played badly (as he claimed from year to year he was limiting more and more facial expressions and more and more imagined that his hero is still suffering from constipation).
  • His lack of consent to promote “Twilight” as a logical movie - I love his statements about the plot of movie and his excellent screws in the commentary to the first installment of the series.
  • Not so much an attempt to escape the role of continuing a career as if this role was not there - Pattinson left the independent cinema and returned to it - cooperation with Cronenberg, “Rover” - a movie far from popular cinema - all this fits to the British actor who in the years between Potter and “Twilight” played in niche films.
I think that this is the actor from which he can be something in the future, and so far, with pleasure and without pain, I watch him on the screen. And I am ready to defend him in all internet discussions.

Owen Wilson - Wilson belongs to this horribly lazy genre of actors who are exceptionally passive if they play in movies in which one does not require too much of it, he gives himself to playing and spins on the set as if he did not know what to do with himself. Anyway, some of the films he played in are terribly embarrassing and I would prefer not to watch them again. But exactly the same means of acting can be used for good roles - as in the Allen or Wes Anderson, in his case you do not go to the cinema for everything - aware that you can always hit a bad movie. But it happens to enjoy watching movies with him . Mainly because when you try it, it often hits its role in a point like in “The Royal Tenenbaums” or “The Dajreeling Limited”. Hardly anybody who perceives Wilson as an actor tangling on the screen without any ambition remembers that he has an Oscar nomination in his pocket for the script of “The Royal Tenenbaums”. I have the impression that it would be much better for him if he stayed where he started - in sympathetic but independent cinema, but unfortunately there is no money there.

Steve Carell - comedy actor known mainly from the American “The Office” and from several better and worse comedy productions (from “Evan Almighty” to “Date Night”) again - I like it in smaller productions - filmed somewhere between larger films - that's why whenever I find the actor's name in the cast, which seems to go beyond the usual comedy scheme (for example, “The Way Way Back”) I'm just looking forward to the screening. But Carell is a really good actor, which everyone who has seen even “Little Miss Sunshine” knows. And what's more - it has the impression that from year to year Carell is more and more interesting as an actor. I do not like his role in the “American Office” - although many consider this series to be excellent, but in my opinion, the Americans did not get a grip on the painful joke from the British original. The similar category of beloved actors belongs to Paul Rudd - he flashes in films of various levels (there are more bad ones than good ones), but in total when he has to play something he turns out to be quite good. Among other things, that's why I was so happy when I found out that Paul Rudd will be "Ant-Man."

Emma Stone - I like her. I will not argue that she is the best actress of the young generation. And I am ready to admit that her acting skills are somewhat limited (she does not play badly, but everything is the same, or at least very similar.) But her screen way of being suits me very well. All her heroines seem to be equally nice, intelligent and a little malicious. Of course, sometimes it translates into the role of the heroine sometimes remains only in the sphere of declaration, but it makes it easier to like her character. Even when she’s playing the more serious movie “The Help” she is fun in many scenes - it's rare because usually girls leave little room for malice or sense of humor on the screen. In addition, the girl is just pretty and nice to look at her. Well, so far it was cast in the movies quite well (she was the perfect Gwen in Spider-man). I supports her and I'm always happy when I sees her in the cast, I must admit that I am happy with the selection of her film roles.

Zach Galifianakis has more to offer than "he is funny because he is fat", the truth is that in “Due Date” he repeated almost exactly his character from “ The Hangover”, but for example in a “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” showed that, like most comedians, he can play completely uninspiring characters. I hope that Hollywood will give him cool roles and that he will have a chance to show that he can be entertaining in many ways (his wonderful stoic calm in Internet / talk show Between Two Ferns is brilliant).

Zac Efron - you may be surprised that the well-known actor from “High School Musical” is on the list. I did not look through all of his films - with the next screening of Nicholas Sparks I was not able to watch from the beginning to the end and I have not seen two recent comedies with Eforn (which do not promise to be particularly good or particularly ambitious). But I supports the young actor - I saw him in a good movie about Orson Welles and in a very good role at “The Paperboy”. And you know what - he could be a really good actor - although it is not so consistent in the movies that it plays like Pattinson, it is not an actor who is completely devoid of talent. And that he started at Disney? Considering where many stars and talented actors started, there is no argument against it. At the same time, as I said, it may well be a career like that of Matthew McCounaghey - the years of playing handsome hunks and finally start looking for more interesting roles.

Rachel McAdams - I like an actress since ... probably always. Even when she started appearing quite often in different productions (five years ago she played in three films a year). And even if not all of her films are good (although “The Notebook” was the most livable Sparks filming) and it does not always fit well with the role (she was too young for Irene Adler), I always like her. And in total, her career results is nice but not always outstanding films. However, I follow her productions faithfully and always her presence is a good argument to reach for a movie.

Now seriously, when I made this list, I realized that the actors I like, but I’m not obsessing with them (we are talking about a harmless obsession that means watching everything that someone was playing at) is quite a lot. What's more - I'm ruthless for bad movies, in total I do not demand absolute perfection from the actors - on the contrary I am of the opinion that even an inferior actor can be liked from time to time - except in cases where bad actors do not realize their own limitations. Nevertheless, it is interesting that even in something as subjective as sympathies for the actors and their way of playing, we give in to some mods - we know who to act as a favorite actor, whose films should be known, to what weaknesses we should not admit. Although I have not admitted in this post to anything embarrassing or strange (after all, all known actors), you know it, and you probably know it too, a lot of social situations where we carefully choose the names of the actors we value. Meanwhile, pop culture is the perfect space to cultivate joy and warm feelings. And the more people involved in pop culture we like the better.
