Several studies have shown that more trees, parks and heat-deflecting white roofs can reduce the effects of urban "heat islands."
Interesting article about heat islands and what can be done about it. Why are we not planting more trees, I know that branches can cause damage during storms, but we have gone to the other extreme. And trees absorb so much water that it would reduce flooding.
