How to clean gold jewelry

in #lifehacks7 years ago

For years jewelry has been a symbol of beauty, status and attraction for ladies. Loved and worn by ladies of all ages jewelry has always added to the beauty and appeal of its beautiful wearers. Though cast and designed using various metals and other materials the popularity and admiration enjoyed by gold jewelry is unparalleled. Now understanding that gold jewelry is an expensive affair and it’s not every day that you get a new necklace or pendant, it’s very important that your gold wear looks clean and attractive even after years of purchase. Thus, comes the importance of keeping them clean and shiny which we shall emphasize and help you with today.
Here are a few ways to keep your gold jewelry clean.
 Now one of the easiest ways is the conventional soap and water which is being used in every household for cleaning so it’s not at all difficult to find too. You put three to four drops of liquid dishwasher in mildly hot water. Get your jewelry and soak it in the water and leave it there for some 15 to 20 minutes. Now gently one by one take out pieces of gold in your hand and get a brush. Don’t use very hard ones but a softer bristle brush would be more feasible. With a firm but not so hard hand scrub the dirt away. Make sure that you cover the nooks and crannies as well as they’re the ones that most dirt clogs in. Now you’ll need another bowl but this time only filled with warm water with no soap there to soak the jewelry in. This will get rid of the soapy foam from the jewelry. Now all you need is to rub it with a soft cloth to get it dry and give you a nice bright shine.

 Having talked about the easy convention let’s move onto something out of the mainstream. Ammonia as most of you are aware of a is a chemical compound that can be found at chemical stores and though not as easily as dish wash soap yet quite easily as it’s got a lot of uses. One thing to know about this method is that though it can give a deep clean it’s not recommended for frequent use as it might worn the jewelry out. Add ammonia to water in the ratio of 1 to 6. Stir so that a homogenous mixture is formed. Soak the jewelry in the solution n=but not for long. One minute is enough. You can get your jewelry out by passing the liquid through a strainer or you can fish it out by some tongs. Now rinse it thoroughly in water and rub it softly with cloth. You have your jewelry clean and shiny.

 One method of cleaning your jewelry is using toothpaste with water. Over here caution is necessary as toothpaste might scratch gold or silver. Get a little pea sized amount of toothpaste and mix with 2 to 3 drops of water to get it dilute. You could do that on your palm or on a saucer. Now using a soft bristles brush apply the paste to your jewelry with a soft hand. Scrub a little till you feel that the grime is wearing off. Be sure not to scrub too hard or you might end up making the matters worse instead of cleaning. It is especially effective to remove grime that accumulates on the jewelry due to frequent use apart from the dust and other little particles. After some good scrubbing rinse it thoroughly with water like you do with your teeth.
Congratulations! You have clean jewelry to wear to your parties now.
