Witchcraft, ghosts, spirits and the others - the possibility

There are no such things as ghosts, spirits, devils and angels, heaven and hell, afterlife. “All these are nonsense!” - is the cry of last decades.

A good number of those asked if they believe in voodoo, pause for a moment and start mumbling “eh, well, you see, hmm, how to say, if you take it like that...”. So how is then possible to “maybe” have voodoo (which can be powerful magic/witchcraft that can be used to have someone sustain serious injuries and even death), but the little things like a broken finger or losing some money are all just “bad luck”?

Is it then possible that there is some gradation? As with everything, and logical: the experienced to have been noobs first and climbed the ladder of knowledge to reach that level of professionalism?

Another thing to consider is: are all the religions and magic in the world fake? Shamanism, spiritualism, etc? All the writings about these are lies and waste of time? The entire Mesopotamian, Babylonian and African lore on this subject - a farce? The confirmations in the last decades, coming from hundreds of professionals (doctors, psychiatrists, etc), of cases of demonic possession, are ALL just... medical/psychiatric misdiagnoses? There have been situations when multiple specialists declared how the patient’s actions were beyond the human capabilities and, risking their career, still confirmed that there is a “supernatural force” involved. ALL of them nonsense and fake? Every single one of them?!

No exact figures: are there 80% or 35% or just 7% of these claims genuine? It cannot be said, but even if there is one single case of “demonic possession” or where a ghost/spirit was confirmed, etc. then this is all it takes: it is then confirmed that there is magic, there is supernatural, there is more than what we can see, know and control... And the chance that at least one of all these reported (and many more unreported) cases over the millennia to be real is... exceptionally high.

There is also the idea that it is a “fun thing to do” and there may be “pretty interesting” results for those who play with the Ouja board...

Pretending to be a mage, lighting some candles and shouting some random foreign names from a pdf book downloaded from some obscure website is “cool” as well... Just something to do when really bored, because obviously there are no such things as spirits and whatever... No?

It is true that for many centuries religion was (and still is) used by the powerful for manipulation and personal gain. But from that to utterly deny all the knowledge gained in spirituality over millennia is utterly extreme. By the same rationale there are no atoms and who the flipper has ever seen the quarks?

A little bit more food for thought: in recent decades, police have put to good practical use the skills of psychic mediums who helped them with criminal investigations.

For a start, a very good and informed initiation in understanding better the possibility of there being more than the visible world would be reading at least some chapters of the History of Religions – by Mircea Eliade.

The truth is not straightforward and simple, but frightening and complex. Wake up in the same bed or go the rabbit hole.
