Uber or LYFT are considered as grey or black economy. In our country, they do not pay taxes, nothing. Because they do not need the personal business licence, just the app, so thy can avoid the system ow work like this. That is one side. Second side is, literaly almost everyone can do it. I would be very afraid of the person, who drive my ride. Is he long term driver? How many traffic vialtions he has? Does he drive saftely? Or in the worst cases, isn't he some kind of thug/rapist, whatever just waiting for his opportunity? Next thing is the knowledge pf place. In our country, taxi drivers need to have topography exam and has to meet other important requirements. Nothing from it has to have the uber/lyft driver. Also prices are different, but nothing that can ruin you and i believe, that is a good price for safety. There was a test run mby news magazine, some people get same trip with different companies. The same trip was $10.5 for uber, $14 for Liftago (simmilar APP-based service), and then just $14.7 for the cheapest of regular licensed taxi company. So .. saving 4 bucks, is it really worth the risk of driver without any qualities? For me, It is too high risk, and they are even going around the law. In my opinion, theese service are good, but has to be licenced and drivers has to prove, they can really do the job in some quality.
