Racism against Blacks Remains despite the Black President in the US

Despite the fact that a black American was elected to the highest position of the government in the United States of America, discrimination against the black people has persisted in any form. It was hoped that the blacks would be lifted up in the society and would finally be recognized as equal to the whites the moment Barack Obama seated in the position. Just as also that the blacks thought that the whites were on their side in voting for their fellow black Presidential candidate when Obama won the election. But such dream of the blacks messed up.

No matter how many propaganda the government is advocating for equal human rights between the whites and the blacks, these negroes seem not to see it in the real actual scene. The media, Hollywood movies, and other entertainment agencies have seen to be making stories in any genre and fun for the people in a manner that degrades the blacks or at least put the blacks into the situation worse than the whites or below in a social hierarchy.

The Beginning of Racism against the Blacks

Looking back to the history, the African-Americans or commonly called the black people, by its first name, originally came from anywhere in Africa. They were deported by the European conquerors, who almost controlled the world and most especially both Europe and America, as slaves to enable them to work for the agricultural and industrial purposes in America under the colonial control of the Anglo-Saxon Europeans, who also introduced the English language to the native Americans.

They were added to the labor force by the native Americans because these natives lacked manpower due to the deaths of their kind from diseases and improper health assistance. Back then, Africa was already a colony of the Europeans, and the Africans were entitled as slaves owned and controlled by the European imperialism. Since there were many African slaves, they were chosen to be thrown to America to increase the manpower provided already by their other slaves, the native Americans.

Eventually, they multiplied in number in America, thus making the babies be called Americans since they were born in the American land. This turned them to be called African-Americans. Racism, on the other hand, followed. As the idea of being the slaves remained, they were obviously not treated equally although they were already American citizens. Even after slavery was already outlawed and abolished by a series of civil wars and parliament revolutions, racism persisted because it has already been painted in the American culture.

Presently, even human rights have already been granted wholly to the black people, the racist American culture seems to be still poisoning the minds of the Americans. It has become a populist philosophy of the white Americans that racism against the African-Americans is a moral obligation and that it must be the center of all human capacity to think for the betterment of the society regardless of the law. Culture is a bit harder to change than the law.

'Secret' Racism

There have been rumors about the so-called 'secret' racism that is indirectly putting down the blacks from any opportunity they are taking advantage of. It includes job preference that mostly company employer and managers tend to seek for qualified workers for their companies among the graduating students in a white American school rather than in a school with the black students. Moreover, along with the job hierarchy, the white Americans are usually given higher positions than the blacks even if the black people are more capable of the jobs than the whites.

These secret racists may have voted for Barack Obama during the 2008 Presidential election in the US, but it was just their practical alternative thing to do. The culture that degrades the blacks is still inculcated. This secret society provides a good treatment for the blacks.

However, it is full of backstabbing and backbiting, which the blacks are not aware of. They may smile at the front of a humble black person, but they do not think he/she is a person. White Americans with secret racism may recognize the blacks for anything good they do, but they do not recognize them as American citizens or even as brothers and sisters. They may also show sympathy towards the black people, but they will not do something to act their concern for them.

Sociological Explanation regarding Racism

The racism against the African-American is not isolated from the cases of Native American, Asian-American, Hispanic-American in their problem of racism. America was under the control of the Europeans specifically, as mentioned above, the Anglo-Saxon protestants. Thus, all the people who were not like the bosses happened to be discriminated. Even other Europeans who were not protestants did not share the same privileges as the Anglo-Saxons.

Looking at the bigger picture, racism is not really the main problem for this matter. It is something between who control and who get to be controlled. It lies in the economic competition that those who tend to control the superstructure and the economic means of production get to control also the whole society. The rests are subject to control. Racism would then appear as a manifestation of this controlling of the ruler in the society. Those who were in the bloodline of the winners of the economic competition are granted the privileges of being the VIPs in the society.

The story of racism experienced by the black Americans is also the story of all the victims of racial discrimination. It is justified by tracing the patterns that cause a particular race to be treated unequally.

All types of racism share the same type of history, and it is the economic competition whether won by colonizing a poor country, invading a certain territory so that people there will become slaves and that available resources will be grabbed, entering a place in pursuit of economic expansion such as exporting surplus products and building of satellite corporations and factories, and many more. Racism is the only product of this.

No history of racism ever recorded in any events in the past other than economic wars and invasions.

I know that you meant well here and it's probably part of a cultural divide but in America most people find the term "negroes" offensive. Some might also find the use of the words "the blacks" as cringe worthy. Not trying to put you down because your heart is in the right place.

Exactly! Thank you for understanding my post.
