Principle 8. Identify Your “Niche” and Stick To It

Your niche is what you’re naturally curious and passionate about. If you follow your interests and passions, you will stay in that field for the long haul. If you go into a niche that doesn’t excite or interest you, you will get easily bored and unmotivated. A general rule of thumb here is that if it doesn’t make you go “HELL YEAH”, it’s a no.

Life is too short to half-ass your path. Follow your curiosity and your passions and it will eventually pay off!

This day and age, many people suffer from “shiny object syndrome.” This means that they are easily distracted, reading, researching and thinking, but never actually focusing and working on their projects nor completing them. Most people know what they need to do, but few actually do it. If you can do the work and are willing to “bleed” a little using your determination, focus and commitment, it will quickly put you ahead of most.

If you have learned and grown a money tree from your first niche, you can go off and diversify into other fields of interest; however, when starting out, “stay in your lane.”

Personally, it took me 10 years of study and exploration before my interests started to pay off. During that time I travelled to China, sat numerous meditation retreats, did workshop after workshop, completed 6+ years of formal education and read countless books on these subjects. During this time, I had little idea as to how I would end up making a career from it all. However, after 10 years of work, it all started to come together. For it to pay off, you need "patience" and to not overthink it. Just keep going in that direction, and it will eventually come together.
