Elements of the Singularity

So how are we that close to the Singularity and can we jack-in?

As briefly discussed in my previous post, blockchain technology has the potential to righteously unfold and encompass the Earth in a digital, gossamer cocoon, which we will come to know as the LOGOS. From the network of near-earth orbit satellites to the mycorrhizal mesh that already serves as the community forum for things that grow, to the molecules and motes that drift in the air, decentralized connectivity and computation will generate the allnet as Simmons calls it in his epic mars dyad.

Now that we've established a medium, what sort of picture shall we paint? Let us turn do the techmaniacs; Elon Musk, John McAfee, DARPA, et al.

McAfee would love the job of making the system robust, but let's face it: he probably wishes he had invented blockchain technology. However, he did recently announce McAfee XL, partnering with Yale ReiSoleil amd John Zhu, opening a very large door, inviting businesses into the blockchain, becoming very much more mainstream.

So what about

Musk and DARPA?

DARPA recently requested--no demanded--a million pin brain port. Musk, with his prolific fool's-wisdom, tossed out that he was making a neural lace for brain-machine communication.

With McAfee pushing access, and the others designing the implements, we now have a CYBER version of those events where you drink wine and paint with your new SO and a bunch of strangers. At first all of the paintings will look pretty similar--a little messy but lots of fun.

I'm not going to address AI or machine learning at any great length here, but I have to point out that if it lives within the hyperweb, long before we have some firm footing within, it might be seen as presumptuous invasiveness if we decide to jack-in too late in the game. Fair warning ...

Now let's talk about ghosts.

We already have some beasties in our machines, which may lap us within themselves, so the last remaining element maybe human consciousness. Will we Face a Star Trek transporter problem? Will math help us decipher the mechanisms of 11 dimensional geometries in our neural structure? Will World War 3 happen first and ruin this?

Lordy, I hope it's the second one.

I hate to be the moral relativist, but despite the very, very bad things that could come of the first stages of Singularity, it really can't be evil, can it? Once it exists, it may lash out with a violent self-preservation mechanism, which is to be expected of any new, capable, disoriented, fearful organism. But once it gets its bearings, maybe we'll have achieved what are true goal was this whole time, to become one with a god, automated mitosis blossoming around every resource-rich body in the solar system and BEYOND.
