Beetles

There are many different species of beetles. I am a nature lover and I enjoy learning about different types of plants, animals and insects. I find it fascinating. I think that nature is very beautiful. I find the topic of nature and life very interesting and fascinating. I am going to be sharing a bit about beetles. There are a various amount of different types of beetles!! Some of which I was not even aware of its existence, however, I will only be sharing a bit of information on five types of beetles that I know of. 

1. The scarab beetle

There are many species of scarab beetles. A scarab beetle is also known as a dung beetle. They make balls of dung and bury it underground in a tunnel in which they lay their eggs. Some of them eat the dung of carnivores while other eat decaying leaves and fruits, mushrooms and carrion.

2. The jewel beetle 

The jewel beetle is known as a jewel beetle because of its beautiful glossy color. Jewel beetles normally live in the barks of trees. They eat bark, flowers, wood and leaves.

3. Death watch beetles 

Death watch beetles are woodboring beetles, meaning that they make tunnels in wood. They usually make their tunnels in old wood and furniture. They bang their heads against the sides of their burrows and make a ticking sound.

4. Dermestid beetles 

Dermestid beetles help in tidying up the remains of dead animals.

5. Whirligig beetle

Whirligig beetles are water beetles. They swim across ponds.

I find it so amusing how all these insects are beetles yet they have complete different jobs and tasks. They also look different and their lives are so different. Just like how we have our daily tasks, so do beetles and other insects!
