The Shadow over Ravenglass (and a small break from crypto trading)
The good Lady decided that we should have a break for a couple of days, the good ladies holiday choices can sometimes be, well, interesting to say the least, one year was the village of angry feral dogs, another was a room in a farm down a country lane with nothing to do but sit in the room and watch the clock tick down.
I think this year may be the setting for a gothic and somewhat Lovecraftian horror novel. So as the picture shows we have rocked up at a place called Ravenglass. On the surface it's a beautiful place, but do Lovecraftian monsters lurk?
I wasn't sure what was going on with the drive down, whether we were driving in the shape of a pentagram with Ravenglass in its dark heart or that every second road was closed off for mysterious work...
The local hostelry served up some fine ales, with no sullen or hostile faces from behind the bar, in fact the barmaid was friendly and cheery, was I wrong, was this just a lovely wee village? Although if the place had been called the Inn at Innsmouth I would have walked on briskly, whistling in my imagined graveyard...
We decided to go for a walk around.
The trees looked cool.
If somewhat ominous.
We passed by a pub, hmmmm

Food was being served but we were unsure
We walked down to the local train museum where 70s glam disco folk were not tolerated.
Was glam disco a crime in these parts?
The train museum was okay, but you had to pay to get in and we had left cash back in the room.
We took our leave and headed off in another direction, the signs were ominous, again.

Was Rome really only that distance away?

If you know your Lovecraft you know that in the perspective of the old God's near is far away and light is dark, so was Rome not far or not??
We headed on, past the spooky church were God knows what lurked within.

The bay looked awesome, especially in the sun.

We headed back into the village where things got ominous again, strange murals,

Signs took a sinister turn,

And random signs about shooty police being unpredictable

Just where had the good lady taken us??
Is this the seal that keeps the old ones in or out?

Was this an innocent sight? Or the blood of innocents fed to the spawn of Cthulhu, we may never know!!

Just where has the good lady taken us this year?

Brilliant post, nice and entertaining, enjoy the break!
Lol, looks excellent especially them unpredictable police!!
Danger close...
It's true, these are indeed unpredictable times....
hmmm, Ravenglass....I'm thinking you got plunked down into an Edgar Allen Poe story.
The streets looked tidy, though :-)
welcome @wisbeech!
It's a lovely wee place, but it it's part of thr good ladies ability to take us to the most interesting of places. Thank you.
