The Divine Comedy

For those of you that don't know, The Divine Comedy are a band from Northern Ireland formed just before 1990.

I had the good fortune of being here last night, its the renovated bandstand in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow and in an inspired and forward thinking city the authorities have cottoned onto the idea that it would be a good idea to properly utilise a grand old structure like this and let people enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed.

Thankfully when I went it was a bit busier than in the picture above,

The band is fronted by the madly talented Neil Hannon, he has been the only constant member and often described as a bit of a Dandy. Anyone who can carry of a vintage French military uniform gets my vote!

It was a glorious night last night and the first open air concert I have been to at the bandstand.

That was as cloudy as it got and made a stunning backdrop for an awesome gig.

Music is subjective and all down to personal taste, but if you are looking for something a bit different and more than a bit quirky give them a try, anyone who can do a theme tune for Father Ted (one of the funniest comedies ever to have graced mines or anyones TV set!) deserves so much praise, uf you havent seen it give it a watch, its funny, surreal and you actually care about the characters in it.

So, I took a few videos, take some time and have a look, bask in the glory of the sun going down and listening to the lyrical whimsy of a great band that, as far as I am concerned are at the top of their game.

I love how each song is a great story in its own right, and seeing them live was awesome, and knowing the material inside out it was brilliant seeing them in the flesh and enjoying a good old singalong with them.

I hope the videos do them justice and that you good Steemians enjoy them as much i did!
