Kindness: The Love That Should Never Be Forgotten.

in #life7 years ago

Hi steemians,
So yesterday i got my Engineering degree and after all the excitement and all, I started pondering on how far I've come as a person and how it would not all be possible if not for the love shown by a few.....

So I wrote this, I hope you enjoy it.

The purpose of life is not only to achieve happiness and procreate, but also to be compassionate, to make a difference in someone’s life that we lived and lived well. We are not truly alive until the people around us feel the love and joy we enjoy, and we are not really dead until these same people forget us.

A Chinese saying goes--- “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a life time, help someone”.

Saint Francis of Assisi wrote--- “For it is in giving that we receive”.

As humans, kindness is genetically encoded in our DNA. Its manifested through empathy, compassion and selflessness. Helping one another embodies these manifestations and it is a fundamental part of humanity. It is a powerful path way to personal growth and lasting happiness and thus an act that should forever lead.

We are all privy to know that for some, Out of the goodness of their heart, they showed kindness, helped a friend a need, assisted a coworker, helped a stranger in distress. But these kind acts were met with unkind actions and terrible situations.
Our world today is filled with so many self-centered individuals. People who repay good with evil, kindness with sorrow. People who are all about themselves and their progress. Those who want to win by all means, not caring for those they ride over along the way. Resulting to pain for those who are kind at heart who genuinely just want to help. And with every painful experience comes the desire to put up barricades to prevent it from ever happening again. In so many cases, people have been betrayed by those they've helped and lost their life or that which they worked hard for.

This begs the question, “Should Kindness be forgotten? Is it no longer required in this day and age? Can we survive by ourselves and therefore need the help of no one?”

I believe a No would suffice as the answer.

We can't let the evil of a few block the good to many, depriving them from happiness and joy. For some individuals the love shown my strangers was all the love they ever knew. One thing that should be taken cognizance to is that helping others is a secret to living a life that is not only happier but also healthier, wealthier, with higher productivity and meaning. Helping out shouldn't be limited to grand gestures or times of tribulation. It can be done every day and therefore when you help others, you help yourself in return.
It is substantive to understand that;

• When you show kindness to someone, they'll be more likely to remember and repay you.
• Good things happen to those who do good…...The law of Karma
• When you help out, you'll feel better about yourself and thus increasing positive vibes.
• People pay attention, and for every act of kindness you show, they are inspired to follow suit.

We should always remember that we don't live for ourselves but others. Expecting a reward for kindness eliminates the aim for the action.
It’s not about us, it’s about them. Help people because you choose to help and not because of what you might get in return. The fact is, helping one person might not change the world, but it can change the world and perspective of that person. If you do not get a reward from the person you've helped, there is definitely a reward from a higher authority who sees all.
Helping should be as selfless as possible and when you help, help out selflessly (Matthew 25:40).
Choose to help people today and do not pass by a man in need, for you might be the ‘hand of God’ to him (Proverbs 3:27).

Be the reason someone smiles today or even every day. Always remember that the least you can do is to help those in need and if you can't help them, don't hurt them.
Be helpful....

Thank You Brother.

Delivering quality content is why I'm here

kindness should definitely not be forgotten. nice post.

Okay , I really enjoyed reading your post. Are you still sure engineering is your thing?

Most definitely, Engineering has given me the ability to think differently...

Exactly! Expecting a reward for kindness kills the aim of the action. Nice post

It definitely kills the aim and creates expectations in the process, expectations that may lead to negative feelings when not fulfilled

Interesting...

this is really inspirational...thank you for your motivating words

Thank you for reading, I'm touched...
