Liberating, not lonely: My views about being Single

Single and happy. Yes, that's me. I have lived as single for years and it never bothers me.

Unfortunately, being single is viewed negatively as it's ominous to being alone. In fact, for the past 2 years, I often heard the following statement from friends saying:

You're too choosy.

This is the common things I've heard, me having a high standards. Well, I must admit that I do have standards but who doesn't have anyway. Someone even told me to lower my standard. I'm not young enough to go gaga over those standards. If the right one comes along and every thing feels right, then it's about time to change my status.

You don't go out that much.

Yes, I don't. My weekends are spent at home if I don't have any friends meet-up. I must admit I'm too lazy to go out during day offs. Weekend means rest time.

You're intimidating.

Am I? Does it mean I'm too quiet? Am I scary? Well, to assure them, I don't bite.

I worry not about being single. Why should I? In fact, I viewed it as time to:

Do Things in my Bucket List

I've been keeping this list and I have all the time in the world to do them. I think it's the perfect time to be out from my comfort zone, go crazy and to have fun.

Love Thyself

I have a lot of “ME” time. I get to live on my own terms. It also means I get to know myself better. How can I love others if I don't love myself?

As for me, it's okay to be alone as long as you're not lonely. Remember, being single is a choice. I am single because I can be single.
