THE CRITICAL CONSEQUENCES OF DOING NOTHING
Hey There Friends . . .
I once read a story about a man and his wife, Wilbur & Betty Body, who loved each other very much. But despite their deep and abiding affection for one another, the couple was desperately poor. They lived in a small home and had four children that were named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.
One day, a very rich billionaire farmer came to town and decided to hire the teenage boys to do a very important and time sensitive job at his ranch, and he offered to pay them $30 Million Dollars apiece as soon as the job was completed. Needless to say, Wilbur Body excitedly accepted the work on behalf of the young boys, and sent them off to the billionaire's farm in order to complete the job and earn the very healthy salary.
When the boys were informed of what the billionaire farmer wanted to accomplish, they didn't immediately get started. Instead, they decided to wait a day or so to compose their strategy. After a while, Everybody was convinced that Somebody would do it. And while Anybody could have done it, Nobody failed to get started, as well; so they were all still THINKING of how they would approach getting the job completed. Somebody then got very upset because Everybody was sitting around doing nothing! But Everybody really believed that Anybody could have easily gotten the work started. But as it turned out, Everybody began to see that Nobody was doing nothing, even though if Everybody had gotten busy, the time-sensitive job could have actually been completed. Well, in the end, can you guess what happened? The time for completing the job elapsed! And Everybody blamed Somebody, because Nobody did a thing to accomplish the high paying job that Anybody could have very easily done, if Everybody had simply refused to sit around doing NOTHING AT ALL.
So what's the point, you say? Sometimes in life we can spend so much time OVERTHINKING the really important things that we want to accomplish, and the end result is that we end up DOING NOTHING!! Or we find ourselves sitting back, paralyzed by FEAR, to the point that all we do is worry rather than get to work. And WORRY is like a rocking chair. It helps you to make MOTION without progressive MOVEMENT, and eventually will get you nowhere!!
In the end, the lesson is very clear: if you have a DREAM, go for it!! Take little steps, if necessary, but march forth toward your destiny. Because I can assure you, your biggest REGRET in life will come from your failure to TRY, not your failure to successfully achieve your goals.
So stop fooling yourself by sitting on the sidelines of your dreams. There is no "reset button" in life! Once a golden opportunity has passed you by, there is no way to retrieve it again. ACTIONS certainly have consequences. But so does INACTION!! So always remember, there are some CRITICAL CONSEQUENCES FOR DOING NOTHING!!!
