Letting Go of the Past - Dealing With Past Pain

Letting go of the past is the only answer to the questions lying in your mind. Release the past from your life is what you have to do now. Now this does not mean you should forget about your past or get over it. Nothing can change that except for you. When you let go of the past you are letting go of the pain and suffering that go with it. This is also the only answer to ending your suffering.


There is nothing more painful than living day by day not remembering what it was like in the past. So why would you want to relive the past struggles when there is a better way to make the present moment perfect? You might ask. Well, it is a better way because letting go of the past struggles brings you to a state of calmness and happiness that was only previously obtained through your past struggles.

You might be saying, "I don't want to let go of my pain. I want to relive the pain." Well, the solution is to realize that letting go of the pain will only get you into the present moment and not the future

The first step on the road to forgiveness is to forgive. Do not use the word "forgive" because you are still using it. What I am trying to say is that once you begin to forgive you will then experience a shift into happiness. And when you experience a shift to happiness, your entire being will follow along automatically and there is no room left for the negativity that comes along with past hurts.

You have to realize that your past hurts are as real as anything else in life and they are also as hard to forgive as anything else. However, there is an answer for this problem. To forgive means that you now realize that YOU are the one that took responsibility for that thing and YOU are the one that needs to be held responsible for it. And while you are doing this, you will begin to feel gratitude for that past hurt and the gratitude will cause you to be more open to take responsibility for anything that happens in your life. For example, if someone has caused you pain, you can forgive them because you realize that you were the one that was hurt.

It is really very simple to do when you are thinking about how to let go of the past and get on with your life. First, start by forgiving those that have caused you pain in the past. Forgiveness is a powerful thing. Forgive those that caused you pain, and move on.

The second step is to make a list of people or things that you hold onto tightly to, simply because you "used them." This may mean that you hold onto things like clothes, or cars, or even a place to live. You might say that these are no longer necessary. In order to let go of the past and start today, you must remove these things from your life, no matter how dear they are to you. Forgiveness is really freeing and it helps you to release the pain.


In addition, begin to use affirmations and statements. These will help you let go of the past and at the same time release painful feelings. Affirmations are statements that are specific to your current situation (let go of the past and start today). Statements, on the other hand, are statements that are directed to yourself (let go of the past memories that cause you pain). Using affirmations and statements together is a great way to let go of the past and at the same time release the pain.
