How taking a chance is becoming the safest move

Hey everyone!

Today I want to talk about taking chances, because I feel this applies to a lot of us.

Every now and then we find ourselves in a situation where we're faced with a choice. Go on like we did until now or jump into something new that might not work. I regularly find myself in similar situations, the last time it was about starting this blog on Steem.

It feels like there's really so much at risk! Why try something that might not work?

What if it's a waste of time?
What if it's not going to work out?
What if I'm making the wrong decision?

These doubts are human nature as there's an evolutionary benefit in sticking to what works.

It used to be that ...

Not too long ago, taking a chance meant leaving your tribe or going against common sense. I have to imagine the odds did not look too good in most cases and if we made the wrong choice we had an extremely high price to pay.

Fast-forward to today ...

Nowadays most of us don't have to worry about food and shelter, or at least not nearly as much as in earlier times.

These basic instincts for seeking safety however are still with us, so the question is: How useful are they in today's world?

We're full of ideas for new things to try and exciting adventures to embark on. Yet these doubts are holding us back and we're wasting time struggling with them.

In most cases, there's really not much downside to making the "wrong" decision.

How would you even define "wrong"? On what timescale? Maybe it seems like it was the wrong decision now, but it could turn it differently tomorrow or next week.

Fact is, that today there is simply sooo much opportunity around us that taking a chance has actually become the safest thing to do. Taking a chance means taking matters into our own hands, being in control of our own destiny.
