RE: How To Build Sustainable Off-The-Grid Eco Homes

in #life6 years ago

Saw the straw build ones but what you need to keep in mind is that many of these houses are not allowed to build by governments. There are so many rules it is hard to build something different, cheaper or ... as the rest of the street.

It would be ecological as well to use what we already have. There are plentyof unused buildings, houses, factories, shops, churches, etc that with some simple touches can make a great home as well.

The US, especially California, has a lot of regulations. That's why I live in Mexico and like to travel to other parts of the world where they can build things like this easier.

I built a strawbale house in California once and the regulations were nonexistent, but Jerry Garcia from the band The Grateful Dead spent a small fortune to have the building regulators do all the testing needed for straw bale houses to pass inspections and it turned out that it exceeded the requirements in every category. I was there for the testing and was amazed.

I'll see if I can find some of those videos and information for you.
