Windmills of Gods ? (Original photo and content)
Poised between the vast expanse of blue water below and the limitless blue of sky above, these windmills caught my eye as we as we crossed the Sound on the new bridge between Denmark and Sweden, on a cold and frozen morning.
Apart from the visual appeal of this wind farm, what really captured my attention was the utilitarian aspect of it.
Certainly an act of man and not Gods - but the benefits to mankind, through this renewable source of energy, is just like a gift from the heavens.
With blades between 60-100 feet long, perched atop towers up to 200 feet tall, such windmills are usually installed in farms of more than 110 windmills at various off-shore locations in Europe. This particular farm near Denmark has a capacity of 400 MW!
Wow that is a magnificent engineering accomplishment!
Just what happens when mother nature decides not to blow hard that day? Do I not turn the heat on to my house?
I guess all the wind farms have some energy storage mechanisms for eventualities like low wind once in a while. Typically, the locations are so chosen that they get wind speeds above 16 KPH for a fair % of 24 hours every day.
I have never seen a windfarm over the water before @vm2904. Thanks for sharing this amazing image!

Thanks @myday. I had heard of them but that was the first one I got to see.
Thanks for the direction to your blogs. Will see them shortly
A lovely blend of nature and industry, and that is not a phrase you can often use!
Thank you for your appreciation. You are absolutely right - industry and nature are often paradoxical. However, in this case both of them are blended and with a stunning visual effect as a bonus.
I wonder how they go performing services and repairs out there... Probably some scuba gear required haha
True @harrynewman. The thought did cross my mind but I did not get a chance to research that aspect further. It could be that they fly out a crew and use scuba gear then along with some floating platforms.
This is really incredible!

Thank you so much for your kind appreciation
Wind energy is the future!
Very true. Also - I recently read that, with the advances in materials, solar energy is also becoming a very viable option. There was an announcement about a 'Solar roof' not t0o long ago from Tesla ( believed to be one of Elon Musk's greatest products).
It feels good to see such beautiful pictures, especially just like you point out, the beautiful way we generate energy, a clean and beautiful way.
I wish you the best.
Thank you or your kind words of appreciation. I usually take nature and wildlife pictures but this one sort of blends in the general theme of conservation.
Very true, I like your futuristic view on how to blend modern technology with nature, to create a beautiful environment.
Peace and Love

Why are we not powering our whole world with these? Solar? Tidal? Wave? Hydro? It seems so silly to me that we have not transitioned 100% by now.
We need to change this within our lifetimes
