What is hope?

Hope is what keeps us going in life. We hope we will be strong, we hope we will pass a test, we hope we will make new friends, we hope we will never lose the old, we hope someone loves us, we hope that love will find us, we hope when all seems lost, we hope when we are hurt, we hope when we play games and we hope when we cry. Never lose your hope, never give up when someone gives up on you.. they may still hope as you do”.

Hope is the mainspring of life. Without hope we become lost and have no direction. Hope is a universal human need. Hope is the fuel to keep us going. It’s the imagination to look beyond the bad things and see good in the future. As long as we hold onto hope, it’s amazing what we can do. People can make it through wars, disease, broken dreams and more. They not only can survive the worst this world can dole out, but they can even flourish – as long as they have hope.The Bible says, “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”Ironically, hope grows out of discontent. If we’re completely satisfied with the way things are, then there’s no need for hope. It’s the pain and disappointments of life that give birth to hope. Hope always looks to the future.God designed us to get through today by anticipating tomorrow. God wants us to have hope!

What is hope?Hope is the emotional state which promotes the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Despair is the opposite of hope. Hope means different things to different people. To some it is the wish to get or obtain something. To others it is the wish for something to happen or to be true. To all it is the wish for something that seems possible to obtain or achieve. How so how does hope affect us? Why it is important to have hope? Well, for one thing, hope affects the way you think or perceive events. If you are hoping for something to happen that does not you are depressed. If you hopes come true you are elated. American poet Emily Dickinson wrote that: "Hope is the thing with feathers/ That perches in the soul/ And sings the tune without the words/ And never stops/ at all..." Napoleon once remarked that even if you lost everything but not hope, you could change defeat into victory.
