For some side info, the saying "blood is thicker than water" is one that was lost in translation; the original passage was "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb," meaning that connections made by choice are stronger than ones already given at birth.

Still, the words of God in the Bible are more effective in teaching us what we should learn than anything that the lips of man can ever say. :)
