What do you take for granted in life?
Many seem to take life for granted and so many parts of their lives and others.
Sometimes I wonder are these many things in life that have been found so challenging at times to be of advantage or disadvantage. Was one of the miracle babies you may or may have not heard of. More than likely weighed less than you when I started out along with a problem that I would stop breathing. We pretty much all take breathing for granted. I mean how could we not? It is automatic. Well except when it is not. The nurse would tell my family member if he stops breathing, tickle his feet. Wait what? I didn't catch it either. Was just a baby and can't hear well. So please that anything may be mis-stated to being misunderstood because of being hearing impaired among other things.
But I lived past the first week in my life when a doctor thought I wouldn't make it. Can't blame the doctor for thinking that. Maybe I didn't like breathing enough yet. Since then I've grown to love breathing. Breath is life. Thank you to the nurses that tickled my feet! But having seizures brought about another challenge. But i must have been cool to have a lightning storm going on in my head! Okay maybe not but such things may sound neat to children initially! Lucky for me they gave me something they said would probably make me retarded! Why on earth would I be happy about that? Well being a retard would be much better than stopping breathing! Life can be full of so many challenges that we don't even think of depending on what we go through ourselves or others around us.
You may be one of those people that has ridden or rides a bicycle. Probably wouldn't imagine that you are taking that for granted. After all everyone can ride a bike! Well maybe pretty much everyone I know except for me! Numerous people have told me of course you can. Everyone can ride a bike! I tried and I fell over. Did I try hard enough? Well I had a physical therapist that worked with me working on eye and hand coordination. To the point where mind might be better than yours.
Worked for hours on puzzles to increase my abilities which I heave learned to other senses which gives me an advantage at times. So there is a possibility of turning a disadvantage into an advantage. Didn't work with the bike though. Worked on things like hopping 30 feet in 5 seconds or so and other speed balance skills non my feet. My physical therapist even ran behind me while I was on the bicycle. But to no avail I would just start falling over. Just could not sense the balance well enough.
Born with lazy eye introduces yet another challenge. Some people cut into my eyes and moved some parts around! This may not sound so great. But if they hadn't then my eyes would just roll around and that would not work out so well now would it!? So I'm having trouble seeing, hearing, and balancing. But I am breathing! Which seems a bit more important. If it weren't for breathing I wouldn't have to worry about the other two!
Despite these challenges I managed to play on a chess team, manage a soccer tam, achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, and more. Always strive to understand and improve and will then stand to understand and improve no matter what your circumstances. Hope you may have enjoyed and simply thought as you have chosen to do so as a result of reading this.
Life has given me more challenges and I have simply worked towards understanding more of life. Other things you may take for granted are those of a car, home, job, money, and so on. In my search into life last year I found myself having left behind much of what people have told me what life supposedly is. To the point where I would go to sleep and wake up in the middle of nature. Which opens my mind to so much more!
Then in opening my mind I later stayed with a great friend for a little while. Was going to get my own place and change my life as to more of what I grew up with. Was all ready to look for a place by the end of the week after having a great talk on life about how everything is alive on some level... I didn't feel well so I won't to lie down.
Woke up days later in the hospital discovering I had Meningitis! But simply glad I woke up and alive. Others with the same illness have not been as well off as well as I have thus far...

Nice post. It is neat to sit back and not over think about our own issues or challenges and look at the ones people next to use have overcome that may have been non-issues for yourself or even harder challenges. I have no point to this comment, just a good post and enjoyed reading, thanks for sharing.
