Act or Wait for things to happen?

in #life6 years ago

A skinny and hungry crow perched on a fig tree, and seeing that the figs were still green, he stayed in place to wait for them to mature.

A fox saw the hungry crow immortalized on the fig tree, and asked what he was doing. Once he found out, he said:

"You do very badly losing the time entrusted to a distant hope, hope is filled with beautiful illusions, but not food."

If we lose the precious time waiting for things to happen, and we abstain from acting, then we will waste all our time and then we will regret not having enough.

The hungry crow stayed waiting for the figs to mature without any intention of looking for others, since his immediate needs were very strong and he preferred to imagine with unattainable things before acting and changing his present.

Many of us sin of this daily, imagining a better future but doing nothing for this to happen, waiting for things to change on their own without us acting. In life we can do two things, wait for the figs to mature, risking dying of hunger or old age first, or act fiercely and look for better figs that are ready to be devoured. This is usually what defines success in people, their ability and willingness to act and do something to change the environment that surrounds them.

"And remember, God does not do things, you do them and he laughs."
José Rafael Briceño, Venezuelan comedian, speaker and teacher.

Stories motivate a lot more than cliched words. That was an enjoyable read. Thank you
