Living A RICH Life

in #life6 years ago (edited)

What a rich life really looks like?

I look at my friends in the corporate world, they spend about 60% of their time performing their job and then they have to spend like 40% of their time making sure that other people think they are performing their job or trying to make the job they are doing to look better because of the internal politics you see in so many organizations.

Take that concept and make the analogy with our bigger life. I see so many people spending like 15%, 20% or 30% of their time actually living a rich life, and the rest - maybe 70% of their time - trying to convince other people that they're living a rich life.

So they're out there leasing some car that they're upside down in and they can´t afford just because their neighbor had a car that was newer than theirs or more expensive than theirs, they want to outdo the neighbor while they have to put some pictures of their lunch, their dinner or breakfast on facebook. They need an #instagram for every moment in their life to SHOW THE WORLD that they are living this prosperous life.

So this stupid generation spends 70% of their time trying to convince people doing that instead of actually doing that.

Now I love this platforms because they really allow me to connect with others but If I was not an entrepeneur and an fredom advocate I would NEVER be on social media.

I don't want to spend my life trying to convince other people that I'm living a rich life. I wanna be living a RICH life with no time for yadda yada.

Ayn Rand is best known for her seminal work, Atlas Shrugged. But perhaps her most brilliant work was a collection of essays titled, The Virtue of Selfishness. Like Rand, I see the word as defining enlightened self-interest. I give money to many different causes, but I do so for a very selfish reason: the joy it brings me.

If you see your main purpose in life as serving others, you probably have a very low opinion of yourself, and have worthiness issues that haven’t been resolved.

People who spend their existence worrying solely about the needs and opinions of others and not themselves are not noble, benevolent, and spiritual. They are just crazy. People who don’t look after their own needs first, really can’t help others in a healthy way. They can console them, participate in their drama, or enable their co-dependence, but they can’t offer them real, meaningful help.

Want to live a RICH life? Start by not caring about what other people think about you and making sure your own needs are met first. Don't get sucked into what it is you're gonna post on Facebook, what you're gonna post on Instagram. Get into what really brings joy into your life: The people, the moments, the spirituality and the memories that create a rich life. The material things that give you expression and freedom to express yourself in the way you wanted, brings you happiness.

Get the money thing out of the way. Get yourself in a position of strength – and you’ll be amazed how much good you can do. Once you’re there, give generously and take pictures of the moment. But don’t do it for show, for spectacle nor guilt, or because someone or something “needs” it more than others. Take pictures because you want to save a good memory. Spend in nice things because you can afford it, give money to churches or causes because doing so makes you feel good, and the cause is deserving of your support.

A rich life is a life full of freedom. #VidaDiamante

Have an amazing weekend ;)
