Modern Fear : How it was and how it is
Fear
Fear is part of our defensive response system. It has been with us from the birth of mankind and has helped protect our species from extinction. Nowadays though it has been transformed and transmuted, attached to things that aren't trying to kill us, well at least not in a linear way. Fear now is derived from the lack of comfort and the defensive algorithm has changed towards defending our pride rather than life.
The Modern Model
Having a car to go to work or a nice flat screen TV to watch 4K Movies on, to the people that don't have these accessories, they are indifferent to some point, yet to the ones that do and have worked hard to get them, they would be sources of fear.
What happens when you buy a brand new Phone and you've spent a massive amount of money, hand to hand with effort. You would buy a case and screen protector in hopes it doesn't brake or scratch if one is to drop it.
We fear damaging our possessions not because we are attached to them, rather we fear losing time and effort. Subconsciously nobody wants to work and grind, nobody wants to waste his life's time to obtain something he already placed efforts into.
It is in our genes to move forward in every way possible, including our physical expression.
See in the old days man took life as a gift, fearing he may lose it, being taken by another, now we mainly take it for granted and rather stress over its benefits.
From my looking point, everything which doesn't put our life in danger is rather something to grow from or something that shouldn't be in your system. True fear lies within that which may hurt us on many levels altogether. True fear lies in that which we may not overcome, the scale that weighs the outcome based on third party sources.
Everything which isn't infront of you or isn't going to end your life isnt fear, it's rather a lesson.
The thing I am practicing is not to deny fear, while at the same time not let it be the main motivating factor in decisions and actions
Yeah definitely that is a great way to build up resilience and grow from the pressure as you get dulled by the time :) I too practice this from time to time.
How can I convert fear into a source of motivation?
Fear isn't a good long-term motivation. It's too exhausting. Sustainable motivation is positive and comes from forming helpful habits.
Definitely @ashkanenald, I would not want to constantly live in fear.
The only motivation i have towards fear is the one that pushes me to go beyond it. Otherwise I'm not sure.
Thanks @vangelov. There's a lot of fears and worries but sometime was being overthinking. Gotta clear things up in my head to know what matters.
Don't worry friend. They won't stay forever :) And thank you for stopping by and having a look ^^
yup, no problem @vangelov. Keep each other motivated by supporting the posts ^^
I think we can also rationalize fears and what is really important. Early man was afraid of mountain lions and things that could feasibly kill him. We are afraid of losing our phones or someone misinterpreting and text message lol.
Exactly what I was thinking of myself. Were stressing over nothing really.
Fear can be good for some reasons. Fear can elicit one to be courageous, it exits to keep oneself safe and finally people think fear is bad but it is actually the way we choose to react to it. If fear is left unchecked, it really can disable an individual's ability to function in life which can be sad. Good choice for an article.
Thanks cab, everything you said is extremely correct, yet we have forgotten the ways. We need to find outlets for all of our emotions, yet there aren't many that are on point with fear.
Before it was allocated towards externally causes, now it exists on a mental level.
This post is dynamite. Love it.

Awesome. You've got some great posts. I probably will. :)
mhmm complacency is one helluva drug
fear is making people blind
The problem is that pride as our sense of confort being ourselves is also closely related to the most basic impulse of survival / reproduction.
Lack of confidence, lack of pridr, can easily result in drop of productivity, drop you out of good school result, out of job, out of basic survival and reproductive needs.
Modern life is very demanding in term of capacity of creation, on capacity to build ourselves to meet ever increasing demand in skills and qualification to fit the market.
Its very draining for ego.
There is a good book on this, the fatigue to be self, that goes in depth in how depression rate is correlated with liberalism as it increase the energy required to build one self by itself for himself, with very few guideline, and actually lot of constraints to become successful, that hit very close to this concept of building strong identity with ever increasing complexity to fit economic expectation, without which it can easily hit our very survival / physical limit by being out of safe zone, increasing physical strain on security, more exposed to a lot of threats etc.
Need not to be fearful of fear itself, as any great objective will always comport more risk, and need not to simplify life to much just in order to avoid fear. Having great pride for good accomplishment is good to, but it also involve lot of fear in the process.
Thats why it requires also courage and bravery to overcome it, rather than shuning objective because they create fear, or interfer with pride.
we are messed up in many ways for sure, first of all failing to understand the "material" is the least important of all that we are given here on this pale blue dot
