First Lady Structural Engineer
Elmina T. Wilson is the first woman to receive a civil engineering degree at the Iowa State University
The first woman to receive a master's degree in this field and the first professor at the University of Structural Engineering.
A prolific writer,she publish several articles and papers on modernization of rural home designs and improvement of sanitation conditions on farms.
She died after a prolonged illness on June 2, 1918, just months short of her 48th birthday, leaving behind a rich legacy of engineering achievements.
