ode on solitude
1
How happy he, who free from care,
The rage of courts, noise of town,
Contended breathes in native air,
In his own ground.
2
Whose herd with milk whose field with bread,
Whose flocks supplies him with attire,
Whose trees in summer yield him shade,
In winter fire.
3
Blest! who can unconcern'dly find,
hours,days,years slide swift away,
in health of body peace of mind,
Quiet by day.
4
Sound sleep by night;study and ease
Together mix'ed; sweet recreation
And inosense which most does please
With meditation
5
Thus let me live,un heared,unknown
Thus unlamenated let me die
Steal from the world, not from the stone
Tell where i lie.
