This is what I liked the most:
It will showcase that anyone can build on top of the Steem blockchain and monetize it with an own SMT.

For me, this project is just another reason to look forward to SF2 and learn more about it.
I'm sure you will be doing a lots of things there at SF2. I think the recent threat to Steemit has been it's going down several_ times in a week. This is creating a lots of concerns among users specially the new comers. I know there are some alternate solutions to this problem but people just hate keep creating new accounts. It's annoying. This is the first thing that should be discussed on SF2 before anything else.
The second thing that is a big threat to the users is spamming/hacking. Some serious actions are requires from the top management on this issue. People are losing their accounts as this number of spammers has increased during last couple of weeks.
Just gave my input on issues that are hurting Steemit.

Exactly this! I hope some manpower will go to addressing these issues before launching the whole SMT system.
You don't need a new account to use different frontends. I'm writing this comment on Busy.org with the same credentials as Steemit.com. That means that the Steem blockchain is fine only the website Steemit.com is slow. Spamming will be tough to address I guess. As long as you never use your master key to login you will always be safe.
