Festival day 2...no rain!
Today was a much nicer day...weather wise. We woke up to cloudy skies, but dry skies nonetheless! We had originally intended on meeting up with my in laws yesterday at the festival. They decided the rainy weather was just too much for them. We rescheduled for today...barring decent weather.
We packed up the wagon again, and headed down. We could tell right away that today would be a much busier day. Cars were parked all along the roadways. There was actually a line to get in! It still wasn’t quite as packed as years prior, which definitely made for a more enjoyable time!
Our first stop was at the oyster vendor. My husband’s stepfather and myself always bond over the oyster shooters! They were better today. The shooter had big oysters and a little bit of a Bloody Mary mixed in! It sounds like a weird combination...but the saltiness of the oyster and the taste of the ocean, mixed with the acidity of the tomato...and a kick of spice =perfection!
After the oysters...the kids were really antsy to see if the rides were open! Yesterday everything was shut down due to the rain. They were really excited to see everything up and running! Grandpa got the kids a bunch of tickets...and they were in heaven!
We spent quite a while in the kids area. Of course the first order of business was the “strong man” game! The boys had to hit a bar with a mallet...which was attached to a spring...which shot up a steel ball and hit a bell. The catch is to to hit the bar hard enough to get the steel ball all the way to the top! Our oldest boy got it on he first try! They were nice enough to help our little guy, and both boys walked away with prizes! They chose a blow up Captain American and Spider man! After that they went on the bounce house! It’s really nice that our youngest is now old enough to enjoy all this stuff too!
They rode a little Ferris wheels together, and the oldest went down the giant slide!
After spending lots of time playing with the kiddos...it was then time to grab a bite to eat! Seafood is the big thing at this particular festival! I got a soft shelled crab sandwich...which was amazing! My husband got s grouper sandwich, that was the best he had ever had! The stand we went to was actually run by a local restaurant! Now we have a new place to go try! If their festival food is that good...I can only imagine how good their menu must be!
We walked around a little while longer and looked at all the vendors...especially since quite a few were closed yesterday! It was another great day...and it was fun spending time with extended family as well! Now...I have to mentally prepare for Monday! Goodnight Steemians!
Your baby are so lucky for their mother and father. because they can enjoy their time with their parents
