Narcissism 自恋主义

Narcissism is a word referring to a life-style of falling in love with oneself. Everyone is precious, but over-focused on oneself will not make the person significant. Instead, the person can become depressed because aging is a natural process. According to the Greek mythology links to Narcissus, one day he looked at his reflection from a pool. He was so attracted to his own image and could not stop gazing at his reflection until he died. What a good reminder for the people to be aware of the danger of over focusing on oneself!

First, over focussing on oneself is selfish. As many people are egoistic, the people cease caring for one another. No one can totally independent and self sufficient. And when it is time that the person has to depend on others, but no one is willing to help. Eventually, the person suffers and dies.

Second, beauty is only temporary and cannot stand the test of time. Without such awareness, the person will become disappointed and even depressed when the body loses its strength and beauty.

Therefore, one of the effective ways to deal with narcissism is by accepting life as a precious gift to be lived out for the blessing and wellbeing of other people.

自恋主义这词是指一种生活方式，自恋者爰慕自己以至自我陶醉。每个人都是宝贵的，但过份关注自己不会令那人有所供献。这种人反而有可能变成忧郁因为老化是一个自然现象。根据一个希躐神话，水仙 (Narcissus) 有一天看到了湖中自己的倒影，他被自己的形象深深吸引了，以致不能停止看着自己直到死了。这可以提醒人，即有关过度关注自己的危险。

首先，自我关注是自私的行为。当许多人都娈得自我，人就会停止彼此关顾。没有人可以完全独立及自足。一旦这人需要别人，而又没有人提供帮助，最后，那人就受苦以致死亡。

其次，美容只是暫时的，並不能经得起时间的考验。人如果缺少了这种意识，这人会失望，什至在身体失去力量及美容时而忧郁。

所以，要處理自恋主义的一个有効方式就是要接受生命是宝贵的礼物，而人必须活出祝福及关注他人的生活。
