One thing that defines the beauty of a group of people is their way of life. That is to say their culture. The culture of every group in every society is so unique that it makes them entirely different from other people. The food they eat, they dress they wear, dance, their greetings and almost every aspect of their life constitute their culture. Especially here in Africa, we are so much concern and give so much value to our culture. I share with my readers today one of the incredible cultures here in Africa, particularly The Ashantis from Ghana.

It is believed that The Ashantis is presumably the largest ethnic group here in Ghana with much different cultural heritage. It is no news to see that the Asante Twi is the dominant local dialect in the entire country, Ghana. Most activities of many Ghanaians are affected by the Asante people due to their predominance in every created society. They are people of unique unity and a very strong Chieftancy system headed by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Taking into perspective an aspect of the Asante people is what they call Adinkra Symbols. It is that part of the Ashantis which they value and cherish so much with high dignity. I am sharing with steemians these symbols and their respective meanings as well as their implications and usage on the people of Ashantis.

Adinkra symbols are one of the best ways the Akans in Ghana express their cultural expressions, values and belief. Amazingly, the Akans of which the Ashantis come from use these Adinkra symbols to represent some human concepts, values and ideas. They have made these symbols and expressed them creatively in artwork which I will be showing in my subsequent posts.

Most of these symbols are largely expressed in materials such as fabrics, sandals and even in poetry by the Ashantis of the Great Ashanti Kingdom. Some of these symbols are so unique and define them in a very special characteristics.

Even though Adinkra symbols come with a decorative beauty but most importantly, they do convey traditional messages and expressions of wisdom and great knowledge. In recent times, people use them on walls and most other architectural designs due to the beauty and messages they carry. These and many other things that @tv4souls has arranged to share with the world this week in its subsequent posts. We ask that you find time to pass by to see the beauty, names and meanings of these Adinkra symbols by the Ashantis of Ghana from the Western part of Africa.
