Identify a BI Champion
You’ll need a leader within your organization who truly understand the value BI can bring to your business. This person will be an advocate for the cause, so to speak, and should be able to organize getting the resources necessary to make BI successful.

Think Outside the Box
Sure, you can recreate the reports you are pulling manually. A lot of organizations look to BI as a way to pull their bread and butter reports more easily. However, we highly suggest thinking outside the box because with big data, nothing is off limits. Think of some important questions you’d like answers to and today’s data rich world will provide what you need.

Measure What Matters
What’s your driver? What’s your objective? These measures are critical to your success with Business Intelligence. Identify the most impactful measures early on and prioritize them. Business Intelligence is a powerful tool but without an objective, you may end up wasting your time and resources.

Strategy
Business Intelligence isn’t something you just want to jump into, just as you wouldn’t go on a road trip without directions. You need to create a strategy with input from each area of your departments or functions including finance, operations, HR, sales, and so on.
