She was abandoned by her husband and left to raise her child alone. Initially her life seemed like a disaster; she felt rejected, lonely and fearful. The situation was far from anything she had ever imagined and hoped for her life. Over time, however she began to realize that feeling sorryfor herself was not going to improve her circumstance, nor would it be good for her child. Eventually her attitude and perceptions changed; gradually she began to view herself not as a helpless victim but as a conqueror. She gave the following insights that helped her with the transition

  1. Don't hide your vulnerabilities and deny they exist accept your pain as a reality
  2. Learn to understand the role you played in creating your circumstances, by accepting your personal responsibility and your contribution to the problem.
  3. Accept the people have perspectives and behaviors are differ from your own
  4. Develop and maintain your sense of self esteem and self respect. These attributes will help you in creating healthy and productive relationship
  5. Learn to let go by focusing on rectifying those situations with which you are unhappy with or alternatively, move past circumstances that you can't change. Apply the insights above to deal with your disappointments.

Disappointment to a noble soul is what water is to a burning metal; it strengthens, tempers, intensifies but never destroys it.
