THE LAST PAPER ; How I almost had an Extra Year (Part 1)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

It was a regular sunny day in the University (or so I thought rme), there was no light as usual in the Male hostel and we were not bothered at all just because we were busy studying for our First Semester Examination (phew).

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, this particular Male Hostel accommodates Final year students only (errm spillover guys also). Room 55, there I was arms akimbo, standing next to my bunk, looking blankly at my open notebook trying so hard not to forget some definitions....funny enough I cant remember any of those definitions. This particular course I was reading for was my last exam for the semester and it was pretty easy! I got distracted from my thoughts by a biro that was being tapped on a table few steps away from me and seated behind this table is a scruffy looking dude in boxer shorts and a white vest, a very good friend of mine Danny.

That very moment I realised we had 30 minutes before the start of the Exam, without hesitation I gave Danny a blunt smack at the back of his head which made him jolt, apparently he was lost in thoughts also. He got my message clearly because he went straight to his closet/locker to put on his ironed clothes. 3 minutes later we were running down to the bus park hoping to catch the next available bus. Luckily we did, with 5 minutes or less left we got to the Exam Hall panting like a dog. Our classmates were seated ready for the exam while Danny and I searched for vacant seats, seconds later we eventually found two. It was time, as the Question papers were being given out to those seated in the front rows, I tapped Danny who sat in front of me for an handkerchief to wipe the foggy lenses of my eyeglasses (Ladies and Gentlemen, I am short-sighted 😢), finally the question papers got to our side, with my glasses clean and my mind settled I opened the question paper and delved into it. As expected, 45 minutes later most of us were through, I closed my Answer booklet, waited for few minutes then suddenly Danny whispered to me if I was ready to submit which I told I was. We stood up and strolled to the front of the exam hall to submit our Answer booklet. On getting there, Danny signed the attendance sheet and submitted his answer booklet, I also signed the sheet then we left the hall through the side door.

[ Note: When going to the exam hall, you get in through the entrance which is the back door where there is a security officer seated and you can leave by the front side doors that leads you back to the entrance].
