Is it Destiny?

Dr Joe Abah posed a question on twitter sometime ago, it goes thus; "Why do some people appear to achieve great things effortlessly, while others toil to no avail. Is it destiny?

According to Cambridge Dictionary

Destiny is the force that some people think controls what happens in the future, and is outside human control.

He used Austin 'Jay-Jay' Okocha vs Beckham as a typical example. I got engrossed in the tweet so much I decided to check out these players career to see things from another perspective.

David Beckham is one of the most celebrated English Football player in history, he is not just a good player but a Fashionable and Handsome bloke (No homo). He's known for his passing, crossing and ability to bend freekicks. "Bend it Like Beckham"

When it boils down to skills on and off the football field, amongst others Jay-Jay Okocha is arguably Top 3 if not the best of them all. Like they say, "So good that they named him twice" (i.e Jay-Jay)  was a popular chant by his Bolton Wanderers fans.

Both of these players are very talented footballers but one happened to be way more successful career wise. What Happened? What went wrong? Could it be because Beckham is an English player, and yes the British Media is strong and very vocal when it comes to hyping their own?

Or

Okocha didn't make the right decision's when signing contracts and joining teams? I mean Okocha is so good he should have been named CAF's Player of the year twice but he wasn't. Always a runner-up. 

So looking back at the definition of what Destiny is, maybe we can come to the conclusion that indeed it was Destiny at play

But then, I believe your destiny is in your hands and you can always try to shape it.
