4 Personality Traits You Want To Avoid To Be Successful

Failure is the greatest teacher that one can have in his or her life. The reason why it is such a wonderful teacher is because not only can we learn from our own failures, we can learn a lot by other people’s failure too. I agree that the experience of learning is much deeper when you yourself fail at something but still you can learn a great deal from other people falling down too.

In today’s world we see that there are all kinds of people. There are people who are very successful, some who are very unsuccessful and some who are right there in the middle, just gliding between the two states. Everyone wants to be successful in life and so, as important as it is to learn from the successful people and their lives, it is also important to learn from the people who didn’t make it.

Therefore, today, I am going to talk about some personality traits that are to be common among people who are mostly unsuccessful in their endeavors. Basically, it is a list of how not to be if you want to be successful.

1. Waiting For Luck To Happen

You know what is the most common excuse I hear from people who failed at achieving their dreams? They often say that they were simply unlucky, and when asked about other successful people, they say that they simply got lucky. This might be true in some of the circumstances but if you really study their life story, you will find that it was mostly hard work, and a lot of it.

If you wait to get lucky, you might have to wait your entire life because that is simply not the way to do things. You have to go out there and make things happen. There is no magic wand that will suddenly wave one day and make everything right. You have to do it all by yourself, and that way, it will be worth it too.

2. Spending Time With The Wrong People

It is said that you start inculcating habits and personalities of the five people you spend the most time with. So, if you want to achieve a particular dream, who would you surround yourself with? People who lift you and push you to keep getting better or people who bring you down?

It is of course the first one. If you spend your time (which is so limited and precious), you will find it very difficult to go anywhere. I’m not telling you to ditch your friends just because they don’t align perfectly with your goals but you should definitely surround yourself more with people that do.

3. Tendency To Stay In Comfort Zone

Every single person has their own comfort zone. It just differs in size from one person to another. Some people have really small comfort zones and they tend to want to remain in their bubble and not venture too far out of it and even if they do, they feel really insecure. But you know what? Life happens out of your comfort zone.

It is the people who keep pushing their boundaries and do things that they are not comfortable with that grow in life because life demands exactly that to grant you success. I know it can be really difficult, specially for some of the more introvert people in the world, but it is something we all gotta do.

4. Not Setting Goals

What is the use of running a race without a finish line? Some might say they want to do it for fun but that is not the answer you want to give if you want to achieve success. You need to have your priorities straight and you need to have fixed goals and deadlines to achieve them.

Achieving short term and long term goals keep you motivated and when you keep ticking off those goals one by one, it feels really good and it continuously pushes you to do more, be more and that is how you become successful in life. By breaking ceiling after ceiling.

From my point of view the third point it's the most important. Getting out of our confort zone can decide the succes in life or the failure. Really nice post. Keep going :)

It is very important. VERY!

My favorite is #2 Spending time with the wrong people. Our surrounding plays a big part in our personal growth, whether we want to admit it or not. Sometimes we need to let go of those so-called "friend." It doesn't have to be always easy but we need to prioritize our time and energy. I certainly limited my surrounding in the past year which brought me more time to realize my goals and also to spend time with people who actually matter in my life.

I really like your posts and I enjoy very much with all your posts.👍

Agree for 100%!! However, the thing with luck is quite arguable since in quite many situations having the same circumstances you can have different outcomes- just because of the luck. And by luck I mean right timing, right people you are familiar with etc.

That is true too! Thanks for the insight :)

I agree with you. It is a true=( Thank you fot the post =)

Really opened my eyes and gave me an idea as to what I actually should do to make things happen in my life , thanks
