Life on Earth - The UprampersteemCreated with Sketch.

Noise! Noise! ...Noise! Noise! There we have it! The first signs we are getting closer.

The impeccable ability for this species to make noise for the sake of noise is astonishing. It has taken years and years of evolution to get to this point but it seems in recent times the speed of development of this species has rapidly increased and its population has grown exponentially. It is clearly thriving in its natural habitat and it has taken some of the older species on the planet by surprise. Its name? The notorious upramper.

It is easy to spot an upramper in the wild, but only if you know what to look for. In fact, when its key attributes are known, it is almost like a red flag to a bull. But over the years the upramper has developed an innate ability to divert the attention from itself to the reality of the world it projects. You see, this species is the master of creating new realities that its victims are convinced they want to be part of, out of thin air. And in doing so, it lures in its innocent victims to feed off from.

To really understand the upramper better we need to see which conditions have helped this species to come to fruition and blossom. What has lead to the rise and rise of the upramper? As a start we have to go back a few decades to the early beginnings of the “internet-age”. Before the internet age mankind was living in a time where your word meant something and people around you were interested in listening to the words that came out of your mouth, formed by the thoughts in your mind. News came out sporadically and its value was far greater, an impeccable reputation and a proven ability to structure thoughts based on logic and facts was your honour. Without it, you would not survive this world.

Over time, we can see that the times have changed, but we have not. We have entered an era of information abundance. We have a plethora of news outlets on all sorts of communication channels, constantly overloading us with information and opinions and we take all that is thrown at us at face value. There are analysts, brokers, exchanges, “gurus”, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Steemit and many many more influencing the subconscious minds of an increasing population on earth, all from their own interests and vantage points. When even self proclaimed “leaders of the free world” use 140 characters messaging to inform people and nations, it is clear that we have entered an era that has fundamentally changed the way we absorb and value content creation. It has provided the fertile grounds for the rise of the star of this story, our upramper. And we have to ask ourselves at this point in time, who will surivive??

It is survival of the fittest, as always. It will be the one that can adapt to the information overload best, that can filter through the noise, and focus on valuable information. Someone that can spot the early signs of an upramper ramping and see its intent. It is the person that will go on its own quest for the truth within the noise to truly thrive in this era. So how do we practically go about spotting our upramper in the wild and start taking the first steps back to information independence? Well, there are signs. Look for signs like:

  • Increasing amount of posts on forums and social media. If you can’t convince them, confuse them is their mantra.
  • Catch-phrases, in particular on social media and forums, such as the following: “This is about to explode!”, “Who are these fools selling at these prices?”, “This will be worth 100x the current value in five years from now”, “These companies/coins are normally valued 10x revenue”, “I’m in this for the long run”, The use of the words “cappers” to explain why prices are not going up and the use of the words “short term pullback is healthy” when prices go down
  • Warren Buffett quotes, especially “be greedy when others are fearful”
  • Illogical logic. “X happened, so this means Y” - e.g. facebook likes have gone up by x therefore the company is likely to sell y more products. Or buy/sell ratio is currently 40/60 without mentioning the volume size.
  • Discredit other contributors. This is a particular strong one.

We have too be mindful that the practice of spotting our uprampers in the wild will be ongoing and it is not easy. It takes practice, but over time and with practice, it will be impossible to ignore the calls from the upramper.
