Laziness and Hard Labour

There is this quote about lazy people and it goes thus...

I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it. - Frank B. Gilbreth Sr.

The quote is usually credited to Bill Gates, but according to this post, the quote originally came from Frank B. Gilbreth Sr.. That's not why we're here anyway. Laziness has a way of landing one in a choiceless situation. This means the lazy person is usually left with the only option available.

According to wikipedia, Laziness is disinclination to activity or exertion despite having the ability to act or to exert oneself. A lazy person will postpone what he is supposed to do till the last minute, when he has no choice but to do it with the little resources available, which most times are limited. This is why lazy people end up doing the hardest tasks or doing normal tasks the hardest ways.

Imagine a student who is given exercises to do at home, but is too lazy to do it. He's eventually left with the option of copying from those who were diligent to do theirs. At that point of copying, whether or not the answers are correct is not an option for him because he needs to submit something. He therefore copies, sometimes, verbatim.

A person who is lazy in career will soon see his mates soaring while he is lagging far behind. He will now run errands and do dirty jobs for those who have overtaken him. According to my pastor, no one wants to promote his problems, so no one will commit exalted positions to a lazy person.

Children should therefore be taught diligence and hard work, because they grow into what they are taught.

A lazy person might find an easy way to perform a difficult task, but his result will be nowhere close to that of the diligent.
