The Siegessäule in Berlin #2
Yesterday I shared with you a post about the Siegessäule
Today I am sharing with you the view from the top of the monument (yes, it's possible to climb to the top!). If you intend to go here as well you should, however, not be afraid of heights and (perhaps more importantly) you should not be claustrophobic! The stairway is quite small and on the top it was so crowded that it was hard to move at all. This was the most unpleasant experience...
The view, of course, if really great! Because Berlin is flat you can see quite far. And a lot of the very famous places of Berlin are easily visible. The Bundestag, the Brandenburg Gate, The Fernsehturm, the town hall...
Similarly to famous monuments in Paris, it is located in a roundabout and the two streets going to the Siegessäule are very straight indeed. The forest, in case you are wondering, is a big park and also houses the place of the German Bundespräsident (Schloss Belleveue)
