If you can't wait to buy the next thing... wait for two more weeks!

That's right.

I know it can be hard, but sometimes you might just feel compelled to buy that next big thing. Maybe it is a new camera, perhaps a new laptop or perhaps some new clothes. But here is a little idea: If you can't wait then instead of buying it right away wait for two more weeks before buying it.

Sure, this isn't a very good idea if you really need something. Maybe your laptop is 7 years old and it is a pain using it. In that case, sure go ahead and buy a new one. Or perhaps your piece of clothing has a hole -- then again, go right ahead.

But often it seems to me that we are buying things that we don't really need. If you wait, lets say for two more weeks before buying the thing that you desire, you could see how the lack of this actually effects your life. For example, if you wait a little bit before buying that camera, first see if you really miss it in your everyday life. The first days might be hard and the thought of not having the camera might dominate your thoughts. But perhaps after 10 days these thoughts might get less. Maybe there will even come a day when you forget the thing you wanted to buy. If that happens and you see that you don't really need it, then perhaps it is best not to buy it.

On the other hand, if you still keep thinking about that camera after two weeks, then perhaps it is really a good idea to buy it. The cool thing here is that by sticking to a predefined waiting period you will see if you wanted to buy something purely out of a rush of hype and desire or, if it is something you actually need.

Anyway, I bought that camera two days ago (after waiting for an amount of time) and don't regret it :)

I haven't owned a professional digital camera and this is just what I wanted... So I also hope that I can reward you with some good photographs in the future!
