It's Only You and I

One of the most profound things one can understand is that there is no one here but us people. That is, everything that happens in our lives, and in this world is the result of how we have individually responded to that which is true. What gives this realization such an impact is that the conventional means of relating to life is that someone else is responsible for me being who I am. When you have a society where many, if not most people believe this, then it is easy for those who enjoy prospering at the expense of others to set up conditions to profit from this victim mentality.

Something that helped me see this came through the study of conspiracy theories. After reading several books varying from the plausible to the ridiculous, it occurred to me that in order for there to be a conspiracy, there must be someone who is the target of that conspiracy, i.e. a victim. This is not to say that there not those who conspire with others to accomplish something. It is to make the point that when one has a character that is in harmony with universal law, that character will preserve them, and deliver them from any attempts made against them. This would include getting a disease or being involved in an "accident."

Those who do believe they are a victim of a conspiracy tend to perceive the government as an autonomous being independent of those who administrate its various offices. In other words, something other than us people. The fact is, government exists as a result of humanity agreeing with evil (non-truth). According to the apostle Paul, it is to keep evildoers in check. The fact that evil people acquire government positions doesn't make government, or God evil. If anything, it should be a wake up call.

The challenge with cultivating such a character is that in order to utilize the power that is at our disposal to make our lives as we desire, we need to recognize how we have already used that power to make the life we presently have. That in itself can be overwhelming to some people because pride is the biggest enemy next to death itself.

Pride will cause a person to insist that they didn't know something to be true in spite of their own conscience bearing witness against them. This is why it has been said that the meek will inherit the earth. The meek are those who realize how powerless they are because they have misused the power they have.

The good news is that when and if a person gets to such a point, they will no longer desire to prosper at the expense of others because they will see that prosperity is all that there is. It simply won't be necessary to use others.
