RE: How we assembled our.. geodesic dome greenhouse.. in our backyard
Wow! I want one now. We have a 2100 square foot greenhouse, but it's that thick greenhouse plastic. We have no way to heat it yet, so it's more for extending our growing season. Why waste most of April and May when it's raining? And it gives us another month or two at the end even if frost comes. Our cold weather vegetables will definitely love it. I think your style would be better for seed starting in our blustery Winter area tho. adds to the hubbie needs to built it list
wow...you have a 2100 sq ft greenhouse?!!! i dream of one of those also! i think the two types of greenhouse would be an amazing combo!!!!! yah this dome greenhouse can handle SUPER HIGH winds! the design and shape ...pushes the dome down on ground...as higher winds pick up. the pond...keeps temps regulated. they have these domes up throughout the higher altitudes of colorado and higher latitudes also...like the aleutian islands. come on hubby....get er' done! thanks for commenting here...and upvoting our post! we really appreciate it!
Our state has a greenhouse grant program. You become part of a 5 year study and they put so much money per square foot towards your greenhouse. There are a few requirements, but after the 5 years it's yours free and clear. We can apply again if we'd like, but we have to plant 2 years in the area we want to have it before it can qualify. We are working on clearing another area for 2 greenhouses in the future. The areas are near my mom's greenhouse business so we'll have to post signs. After the 5 years tho we can buy some tables and add on to mom's business... tho by the time we get that far I may be the one running the business. She has a starter plant nursery. We keep saying we're running out of room so coming on to my property is the only way to make more shop-able greenhouses.
wow...that's so cool!!!!! free and clear!?!!!! i love that!!!!!!! keep applying and adding more!!!!! maybe a dome greenhouse down the road...as you said before. gosh...i can't wait to see what you guys do! we will be tuning IN!
One of the requirements is that it is a high tunnel. We got a gothic style this time and went with almost the max square footage we could go. Next time I'm thinking a smaller one this time with the rounded top. We got to demo our old house first tho... after we clean it out.
