Kids Just Don't Understand

Bending over backwards
Falling over forwards
The constant leaning from side to side
To promote the peace buried deep inside

Those trying to help
They may as well just sit on the shelf
'Cos they'll never be listened to
They'll never be heard
They know what they're saying
They've been there before
They've been low
If only they could show

Trying so hard to give you what they never had
To show you a path is all they can do
What you do with that wisdom
Is entirely up to you

When you finally listen you'll be too old
The choices they were offered
But never were sold
At least you have the experience
The wisdom to give to your children

Or at least you think you will
But just like you
They just won't listen

This is one of many poems I wrote over 10 years ago and have only recently come back to so thought I would share to see people's feedback as I start to get back into the swing of things. Thanks for reading.
