Her Life Story

I was so grateful for the trust and time she gave even though it was our first time to talk and to have a very long conversation. Today, I will share to you the story of one of my colleagues.

When she started to share about her story, I listened very carefully but I did not expect that she gone through it. Her parents were separated because her dad was a certified drunkard that makes her mom decide to leave her dad. There were also times that he pointed a knife.

Since she will be entering college, her mother sell their jeepney to sustain her studies and enrolls to a private aviation school but just enough till her second year, first semester then she stopped. That was her mom’s choice.

She was just 18 years old when she decided to apply for a job so she can save and continue her study. After 6 months, she enrolled again but since it’s a private school, it was still not enough. She makes so many ways like she applied for a scholarship, but it was just a half scholarship so means she will still pay half of her tuition fee. She then applied as a working student in McDonalds and even tried to be a janitress.

She perseveres because she has a dream for her family. There were times that she was very ashamed because her classmates were buying ice cream in McDonalds and she was the crew. And there were so many sleepless and restless nights.

But after all the sacrifices, she graduated, received her diploma and after a month of graduation, she was hired in Etihad Airlines. Her salary was just small so she told her mom that I can only give you a comfortable life if I will work in abroad. She prayed a lot till she got a job offer. She was sending ¾ of her salary to her mom, and only few was left for her. She became a Born-Again Christian and so close to God as well as her family. She owes everything to God.
