But not really :P

This place was not so lucky.

Thankful to have survived hurricane Irma. The mainstream news outlets certainly sensationalized it!

Mandatory evacuations are never necessary, even when the predictions are correct. The costs of getting hurricane Irma so wrong: https://fee.org/articles/the-costs-of-getting-hurricane-irma-so-wrong/

Nothing should be mandatory. The word should be abolished.

My mom is a snowbird so she was supposed to return to Florida when it hit. Just waiting on the all clear to return.

Thanks for the post!!
As a (fmr.) long time resident of S. Florida I can say that mandatory evacuations are not the norm. Hurricane Harvey was the difference this time and media fear-porning did not help. I made a related blog post: https://steemit.com/news/@mjsnosk8er/watch-msm-try-to-hype-the-aftermath-of-hurricane-irma
Steem On!!

Haha awesome! The news reporter is trying so hard to fish for some conflict or distress. "Hurricane hit and everyone is just working on recovering" is not a news headline that will get you as many clicks or views as "Hurricane hit and 1 million people need to be rescued!"

Now they will show what is going on in PR as if they weren't unified initially. Somehow I am sure it will be all the Presidents fault.

I know, sadly others weren't so lucky

no one hurt thats why i say

I hope you have a chainsaw and lots of grease
