Meaningful pictures #3 STOP KILLING THEIR DREAMS!
"It’s great to have dreams, just so long as you don’t believe in them too much."
We cut their wings. The children's. And I think part of it stems from our own insecurity. We have failed to live up to our dreams, so as a form of projection we start to demand that they follow a rigid path. In doing so we turn them into a mirror image of ourselves, and yet we wonder still, why are they so much like me?
A parent's, a teacher's perogative is the successful and stable development of a child onto adulthood, with the hope that they make something of themselves; that they become a doctor, nurse veterinarian, an engineer and so on. As a result, we need to give them the full experiences of childhood so that he/she can demonstrate where their strengths lie. We SHOULD NOT give them a role that WE LIKE only, as that can lead them to live an unfulfilled life and they can grow to resent you.
So In short we should not cut their wings of i.e. limit their self expression rather, we should look at their strengths, weaknesses and passions, in order to guide them to do what they love, and as a result, they will respect you for that.
