RE: The Southern Gentleman, a Dissection, Part 2
Is it strange that I heard this post read (in my head) in the accent of a Southern gentleman? LOL!
This is a wonderful tribute to the refined accents of the Old South, defined by the proper Southern Drawl, rather than less-refined Southern twang. I like the artistry of your words, as in: "flows like a slow churning black river around a cypress bend" and "sonnet and song of vocal seduction" sonnet and song of vocal seduction
Even though I was born-and-raised in the Deep South, I did not manage to gain true appreciation for the Southern Drawl until I was grown. But I do admire it now, at least when it flows from the mouth of a true master. So, I enjoyed this post, very much! Thanks for sharing it in #steemitbloggers 😊
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. I too was raised in the south and didn't appreciate much of the "southern arts" until I was older.
In my mind, when I wrote it it sounded like Kevin Spacey's character from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil lol so it's perfectly normal it was in a southern accent in your mind.
