Creativity is a muscle and you gotta exercise it

Dear Steemers,

Someone told me once, I wish I could run as much as you do but I’m not fit enough, my body cannot handle it. To this my answer was, "the reason why I’m able to run is only and exclusively because I run".

Some other person told me, I cannot practice yoga because I'm not flexible as you are. My answer, "I am flexible because I practice yoga. Only because I've been practicing even when I wasn't flexible, and I sticked to it, I am flexible right now."

Well folks, same happens with creativity.

Creativity is a muscle, an invisible one, that like any other you have to exercise if you want to continue using it and seeing it.

Think about it, if I wouldn't have started running when I couldn’t because it was very tiring — I remember one kilometre was a mental and physically torture — I wouldn’t be able to run today 25k. Never. I am able to perform as a runner because day by day, during years, I've been going out to hit the parks and streets.

Creativity isn't any different than this.

Let’s say you like writing (or photography, or painting, or creating new businesses, etc) but you barely actually do it because you think that nobody will see your work… or whatever the reason might be. If you do this, you’re deviating yourself from the only one thing that you should be doing and that really matters: the craft.

As if the runner find excuses why not to train every time he has to and by the end of the year he cannot run a marathon. Does it make sense?

Because trust me when I say that once you start making creativity a routine you start using that muscle and it can only grow. You get better and better than the previous week/month/year, plus you will have more chances of gaining more self-confidence about your craft . And because you’re possibly feeling so good about this you may even feel like sharing it to the world in whichever way suits you better, who knows. You open up yourself to a new world because:

The more you use your creativity the most it flows.

So, please use it. Practice your craft, write down lists of business ideas every day, make content for your blog, go out and take pictures, or make videos, invent, explore.

Create! Only when you create more you will be able to create more. You will open up the tap of creativity and once it starts flowing it will follow you.

For instance, I have noticed that the more I write this blog the more ideas I have to share, the more inspired I’m feeling and the more self-confident I’m getting about my work.

This isn’t something unique for me, it is available for you as well. Try it out! Your creativity will grow if you give it some time and if you invest in it.
