Diary Entry: Confusion Abounds
So a few things have happened in the past week. I saw my family, had gone to a nerd themed party but unfortunately not all things that happened were good.
Today I'm going to be ranting on again but this time it is directed at South Africa's Medical Professionals... So to give you a little rundown this is how things occurred. Thursday started feeling dizzy and started getting nauseous, nothing to bad. This feeling continued until Saturday evening where Daniel and I went to his sister's 21st. She had a tent set up outside and walking into the tent, I could smell that the grass had been cut just before the tent was set up and could feel my allergies take effect. Being the fantastic woman I am, I decided that I will only tell Daniel that we need to leave when I'm pretty close to dying or at least after the speeches.
Fortunately it was only after the speeches that we really needed to go. It felt like I was drowning so when I got home the first thing I did was to take something for the allergies and I went to bed. The next morning I woke up feeling like death personified.
It started with an annoying cough and a sore throat, then my neck swelled up so big that it looked like I had an extra neck. It took me a while to freak out but my brain took a second and then thought back on my younger brother when he got mumps. The same thing happened to him. Frantically I asked Daniel if he had mumps before and to my horror he did not... So as soon as I had the opportunity I went to a clinic to look for some professional help.
I show up at the free clinic (Yeah, I don't have medical aid and doctors cost a fortune). While sitting outside a man also waiting to be helped sat next to me. His cough sounded really bad and he kept coughing on me so the Germaphobe inside we was like nope and I left. Went to another clinic, not free but still cheaper than a private doctor and wait patiently for an hour for them to open.
This is where things get interesting. The nurse who assisted me heard my cough and thought I had a serious chest infection. She listened and nothing... I told her exactly what had been going on from beginning to end so she checks my throat... Nothing... Blood pressure, nothing, pulse, nothing... She touched my forehead (keep in mind it was a cold day, I was wearing a short sleeved shirt) she was horrified because my skin was so hot she thought I had a bed fever so she tests it... Nothing. Nothing was wrong with me according to the check up and I was sent home with cough mixture, stuff for allergies and a "oh check on this, if it gets worse come back".
Update: I still feel like a walking, talking virus today. I'm strongly considering to pay to see a doctor but I'm also thinking going to a sona with a whole container of viks might be cheaper....
What do you think?
